Following our first in-person Children’s Storytime at Fort Vancouver in July 2021 we returned to Virtual Author Visits to schools and libraries in fall due to the return of pandemic problems that impacted safe in-person programming.

Martin Luther King Elementary School Mandarin Immersion Program – October 5, 2021
On October 5 the Martin Luther King Elementary Chinese Immersion Program invited us to present a reading via Google Meet that was hosted by School Librarian and Media Specialist Beth Bolger and five classrooms at the school. Native Speaking Chinese Language Teachers read our book in Mandarin in the classroom and our Virtual Author Visit presented a reading in English with author comments about grandchildren in China and the USA, bilingual books, and kites. The Mandarin Immersion Program at Martin Luther King Elementary School in Portland, Oregon is supported by the parent organization Jin Ren.
Words & Pictures Festival sponsored by Fort Vancouver Regional Library – October 9, 2021
We enjoyed presenting our Virtual Author Visit to Words & Pictures by Zoom from Coyote Cottage at Seabrook, Washington on Saturday October 9 and decorated the cottage with kites to prepare for the book reading accompanied by colorful kites used as examples and props. Events include a keynote address and events for children and families, including author readings such as ours as well as workshops and panels for writers at the virtual festival sponsored by the Fort Vancouver Regional Library.
