Kiting Magazine Vol. 48 Issue 1, Spring Issue 2026 Region 9 Report (p.41-42) by Glen Rothstein features our travel story of visits in 2025 to the Taimeiken Kite Museum in Tokyo on our way to the Hangzhou Kite Festival where we flew kites with old friends such as Mr. Zhiping Liu of the Weifang International Kite Festival (and Eddie Lai in the photo) and others we have met in China in previous years.

The American Kitefliers Association Kiting Magazine Vol. 47 Issue 1 2025 arrived in my mailbox with the fun story of our 2024 activities in Region 9 report on page 42! Thank you, Glen Rothstein AKA Region 9 Director for including us in your report.
In 2024 we traveled, visited kite festivals and kite museums, and received some press attention including the story “Snuggle up for storytime with these local authors” by Monika Spykerman in The Columbian Newspaper Vancouver, Washington on December 12, 2024. The story is available at https://www.columbian.com/news/2024/dec/12/snuggle-up-for-storytime-with-these-clark-county-childrens-authors-and-their-new-books/ beginning on Life section B1 and continuing on page B3 with the interview with Jenny Farmer about our book. Other stories on page 3 were about Beyonce and Taylor Swift so Jenny was happy to be among the stars you can read about in The Columbian.
Our visit to Nagasaki, Japan in January 2024 was featured in the American Kitefliers Association Kiting Magazine Spring 2024 issue. After visiting the monument of Ranald MacDonald first teacher of English in Japan and his student Moriyama Einosuke we flew the rokkaku style kite at Nagasaki Seaside Park. Then we went to Taiwan and visited the Jiufen Kite Museum 九份風箏博物館 and presented a copy of our book, “The Kite That Touched the Sky” to Mr. Lai and family whose home and hotel and museum are in the building overlooking the beautiful seaside from the hillside town of Jiufen.
